Abstract: One hundred dog owners were interviewed to determine the management system of owned dog in Dhaka city. A predesigned questionnaire was use to collect baseline data on the demography and different management practices. The interviews were taken during July and August, 2017. From this survey, information about 133 owned dogs were collected and 64.6% dogs were found vaccinated against rabies where 73.6% dogs are kept as pet and others were for guarding or trading purpose. Most of the owners prefer male castrated dog fo 64.86% than female (P = 0.003, at 95% confidence interval).The ratio of male and female dog was 5.04:1 and 78.19% of the household kept their dog in fully restricted area. The owners kept dogs of different ages and the average age of 133 dog was 2.5 years. Most of the dogs were non-pedigree (97.4%) type. Understanding the demography of domestic dogs is essential to plan the dog population management and disease control program. The findings of this study will be useful for planning and monitoring owned dog population and their management in Dhaka City and elsewhere in Bangladesh.
