dc.description.abstractFibrous osteodystrophy is a metabolic disorder that characterized by marked bone resorption with fibrous tissue proliferations, cysts formations and insufficient mineralization of immature bone. This study was conducted at Shahedul Alam Quadery Teaching Veterinary Hospital (SAQTVH) in Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) to observe the clinical symptoms and changes in blood parameters (Calcium, Phophorus and Alkaline phosphatase) in the affected goats. The present study was also aimed to investigate the distribution of the disease according to different factors (Breed, sex, season). Diagnosis of the disease was based on clinical history, clinical symptoms and laboratory procedures. The confined management system and concentrate feeding were the predominant case history in most of the affected goats. Blood calcium, phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase were analyzed by using clinical chemistry assay kit (Randox). The occurrence of fibrous osteodystrophy was higher (50%) in rainy season (August month) than in other season. The Jamunapari and cross breeds were more commonly affected (33%) than Black Bangle Goat (11%). Among the affected animals, 66% was male goat. The main clinical symptoms were characterized by swollen jaw (50%), leg deformity (40%), swelling of joints (20%), protruding tongue (20%) and lameness (10%).en_US
