Abstract: | A 10-year-old Golden Retriever was presented to the Teaching and Training Pet Hospital and Research Center at Purbachal, Dhaka, Bangladesh with a non-ulcerated, round and raised dermal tumor mass on the skin of the right cranial aspect of thigh that had been present for about 3 months. Fine needle aspiration and cytological examination revealed a mast cell tumor. After performing general anesthesia, the tumor mass was surgically removed. The dimensions of the mass were 12 cm and 200 gm. in weight. Microscopically, the growth was composed of distinct fine granules, and some indistinct with large and hyperchromatic granules, and nucleus were round to indented with scattered chromatin. The drug ceftriaxone at a dose of 50 mg/kg body weight was administrated parenterally for 7 days postoperatively. Meloxicam and Pheniramine Maleate were given as NSAID and antihistamine, respectively at the rate of 0.2 mg/kg body weight parentally for 5 days. The dog was fully recovered after 3 weeks of surgery and there was no recurrence found after 2 months of follow up observation |
