Title: Pattern of Musculoskeletal diseases in patients ofChattogramMedicalCollege

Abstract: Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) isconsidered one of the major public healthproblems in both industrialized and developing countries of the world. Itmayresultinabsenteeism,oreventheneedtochangejobs.ThepatternofMSDinBangladesh yet to be investigated among the general population. Methods This was a hospital based cross sectional study carried out among the patients ofChittagong Medical College (CMC)fromSeptember2020toOctober2022.Anon-probabilityconvenientsampling was followed. A total of 500 samples were taken from the outdoors Patients of CMC. A semi structured questionnaire was followed to collect data byface-to-face interview. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression were appliedtoanalyze the data. Results Themeanageofthestudypopulationwas38.21years.Themajorityagegroupwas30-40years.Andtheagegroupmorethan60years(90%,95%CI:73.47 – 97.89). Theoverallprevalence of MSDwas79.8%andLowerbackpain(43.11%)wasthecommonmusculoskeletaldisorderamong the participants, and carrying or lifting heavy weights (68.42%) was themost common cause. Females(95%CI: 1.05 – 2.81) were 1.7 times more vulnerable to develop MSD. Age in between 51 -60 years (88.1%, 95% CI: 73.47 –97.89)were3.23timesand2.65timesmorevulnerabletodevelopMSD,respectively.Nutritional statuswith obese (94.59%, 95% CI: 81.88 – 99.34) followed by over weight (90.82%,95% CI: 83.28 – 95.71) were more vulnerable to MSD. However,inmultivariablelogisticregression 51-60 years had 4.66 times higher odds than the reference group.
