Abstract: The present study was conducted to compare the different productive and reproductive performances of Black Bengal goat under intensive and semi-intensive farming system at Kabirhat Upazilla of Noakhali district during the period of October’2008 to February’2009. Productive parameters of Black Bengal goat like average body weight of doe recorded highest was 16.50±0.50 kg and 16.33±0.33 kg at above 5 years of age under intensive and semi-intensive system. Average birth weight of kid for litter size 1 was 1057.69±37.05 gm and 1016.66±44.09 gm, for litter size 2 was 778±14.76 gm and 761.12±28.59 gm under intensive and semi-intensive system, respectively. For litter size 3 it was 670±19.83 gm and 758.33±32.70 gm in intensive and semi-intensive condition which is significantly difference (P<0.01) and it draws a negative correlation between birth weight and litter size. The average birth weight of kids found 813.44±20.39 gm and 802.78±29.56 gm, the percentage of male kids production was higher (53.12% and 58.97%) under intensive and semi-intensive condition compare to female kids production (46.88% and 41.03%), respectively. Male female ratio was 1:0.88 and 1:0.69 and percentage of litter size recorded 20.31% and 16.66% for litter size 1, 59.37% and 50% for litter size 2 and 20.31% and 33.34% for litter size 3 under intensive and semi-intensive condition, respectively. The average litter size recorded 2 and 1.95 for respective farm which draw a correlation with the highest percentage of litter size 2. Kid mortality percentage at 0 to 3 months of age was 27.34% and 20.53% and the average weaning weight of kids at 3 months of age were recorded 3.960.183 kg and 4.10±0.23 kg under intensive and semi-intensive condition, respectively. Reproductive parameters like age of puberty was observed 202.50±5.49 days and 237.50±5.49 days which is significantly differ at P<0.01 level. The average gestation period was 146.74±2.10 days and 145.50±1.07 days, kidding interval found 216.30±7.14 days and 1988.72 days and post partum heat period was 68.33±6.37 days and 52.123.25 days for intensive and semi-intensive farming system, respectively. So, it is conclude that most of the productive and reproductive performances are better at expression semi-intensive rearing in comparison with intensive rearing system.
